Asia + Oceania
There are many myths, how coffee first arrived in Asia. According to the legend, the saint Baba Budan traveled through Yemen during his pilgrimage to Mecca in the 17th century. In Yemen, he found a coffee tree, wrapped seven grains in his turban, and smuggled them to India. Once he arrived, he planted the beans in his garden near evergreen mountains in Karnataka, so the birthplace of coffee in India had arisen. Besides India, other coffee-producing countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, among others, play a crucial role in the production of specialty coffee and surprise coffee-lovers with interesting cup profiles.
