Congo

Right in Africa's heart, the Democratic Republic of Congo is the continent's second-biggest country. Also known by its acronym, the DRC or Congo (Kinshasa), with the capital added parenthetically, has a 25-mile coastline on the Atlantic Ocean and is otherwise completely landlocked. 

The DRC is known for its vast natural resources. It boasts large deposits of industrial diamonds, cobalt, and copper, and is home to one of the largest forest reserves in Africa. In the 1970s, the DRC was a leading coffee exporter in Africa, but production plummeted as a result of civil war and political instability. Despite the challenges, coffee production in the country is reemerging and is slowly becoming more renowned for its high-quality arabica.
