Tanzania stuns with a broad mix of wildlife, cultural abundance, and natural superlatives. Ever since the early 1900s, Tanzania had a special eye on preserving its natural beauty. Today, about 38% of the country's territory is official national parks or conservation areas. Add to that a spectacular coastline and the snow-peaked Kilimanjaro in the north. Experience the colorful blend of languages and cultures and you will also fall in love with Tanzania as we have.

Amidst this diversity, some of the finest African coffees with complex cups are found here. Tanzanian Arabica coffee production is mostly found around the Kilimanjaro in the north and in the southern highlands of Mbeya. Besides Kilimanjaro and Mbeya, some of the country's coffee-growing regions include Ruvuma, Tarime, Kigoma, Arusha and the Ngorongoro Crater. This coffee comes from this last region and the farm beautifully lies on the slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater in Northern Tanzania.

Ngorongoro is home to Glenmalure Estate, a specialty coffee farm owned by Vera Stucker. The farm, which is part of her larger estate Ngila, lays at altitudes ranging from 1,600 to 1,700 masl. This coffee is from a Kent variety and is all grown under the shade of trees next to the farm's protected rainforest. Thanks to the high altitudes, the rich volcanic soils in the area, and Vera´s great dedication and careful handcraft, coffees from Glanmalure are a delight to taste. The coffee is processed as natural. This cup is citric and smooth with flavors of sugar cane, sweet fig, datels, raisn and plum. A coffee definitely not to be missed!

Tanzanian Arabica coffee production is mostly found around the Kilimanjaro in the north and the southern highlands of Mbeya and Ruvuma. Trees are grown 1,000 to 2,500 meters above sea level on the mountainous slopes under the shade of banana trees.

Arabica coffee makes up to 70% of the country's production. Robusta is mainly grown west of Lake Victoria at 800 to 900 meters above sea level in the Kagera region. The major share of coffee is produced by smallholder farmers. Only about 10% of total production comes from larger estates such as the Machare Estate in the Kilimanjaro region.

Tanzanian coffees tend to be pleasant in aroma, rich in acidity and body. Their sweet taste is enriched through balanced flavors thanks to mineral nutrients from volcanic soils.
