Jamaica

Home to almost 3 million people, the mountainous island of Jamaica is part of the Greater Antilles chain in the Caribbean. Jamaica is, in fact, the tip of a mountain rising from the sea floor. Just like its coastal beaches are ideal for a warm relaxing vacation, its lush rolling hills are excellent for coffee production. 

The story of coffee on the island takes us back to the 1720s. However, it was until the 1800s that production truly boomed. Jamaica only has one coffee region, which is clearly defined. Coffees growing between 900 and 1,500 masl on the slopes of Saint Andrew, Saint Thomas, Portland, and Saint Mary may be called 'Jamaica Blue Mountain'. Coffees grown between 450 and 900 masl can be referred to as 'Jamaica High Mountain', and anything below can be called 'Jamaica Low Mountain'.
